Quilting is the process of sewing of two or more layers of fabric together to make a thicker padded material, usually to create a quilt. Sounds pretty basic doesn’t it? However, quilts can be not only functional but also beautiful! Just ask the members of St. John’s Piece-Full Quilters.
This group meets each Wednesday morning beginning at 9. They create works of art for local missions, new babies and to be sold at the annual St. John’s Apple Fest.
Things you should know about the Piece-Full Quilters:
– You don’t have to be a member of St. John’s.
– You don’t have to be 55 or older.
– Your quilting skill can be anywhere on the scale, from “always wanted to quilt, but never tried” to “my quilts have been in quilt shows several times”?.
– You have to be willing to have FUN!
– Any and Every One is invited to join or just come by and check out the group.
– You may call Connie Mock (803) 439-2360 for more information.
And always remember: When life hands you scraps, make quilts!!
There are two children’s choirs at St. John’s. The Joy Choir is for children ages K3-1st grade. Under the direction of Elizabeth Barfoot, our smallest choristers enjoy their first experience of making music together with friends as they prepare and offer their very best to God.
Rehearsals are on Wednesdays in room 119 from 4:15 to 5:00 during the school year.
The Alleluia Choir is for children 2nd to 6th grade. Under the direction of Catherine Stapleton Nance, this choir focuses on good vocal tone, ear training, pitch awareness, self-assurance and self-discipline. The choir works hard to present our very best offerings for the worship services in which we sing. We dabble in drama from time to time. We play musical games help teach cooperation. We venture into another language on occasion.
Mostly, we have fun and praise the Lord in all we do.
Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 4:15 to 5:15 in room 214.
A small group for guys. There is a lesson followed by games.
JOY stands for Jesus, Others, and Yourself and that’s the priority for the members of this fellowship group. Of course, they also enJOY life and each other.
JOY meets the first Monday of each month at 10:30. You can expect lots of fun and laughter as you participate in games and activities that are designed to entertain and amuse you as well as exercise your MIND.
This warm, friendly group meets the first Monday of each month at 1 pm to make cards for the congregation. They create beautiful Thinking of You, Get Well, Sympathy, New Baby, and Senior Birthday cards to be sent to members of the congregation as appropriate. Come join us for great fellowship and creativity. You will receive great satisfaction from creating something to be enjoyed by others.
There is no prior experience or artistic talent necessary because we use rubber stamps, punches, and die cuts. Design, directions, and measurements are all done. We just work together in a kind of loose assembly line, which includes plenty of laughter.
Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” (John 21:12a) These high school girls do just that as they meet each Tuesday morning before school to talk and share. They meet at Atlantic Bread Company at 7:15 am.
