Opportunities to Serve

St. John’s has many areas/ministries where volunteers have the opportunity to serve others.  Most of these opportunities only require a little time and a willing heart.  Listed below are the areas currently soliciting volunteers.  If you are interested in volunteering or if you would like some more information, please call the church at 803-648-6891 or you may fill out the volunteer form at the end of this document.

Sound Operators

Join the team that assists with running the sound boards at any of the three services.  Training is provided.


Grace Kitchen

Help prepare the food, serve the guests, and clean up the kitchen for our Saturday morning Grace Kitchen ministry which provides a free breakfast to all who come.  Must report to the kitchen by 7 am once a month or less.


Coffee House

No special skills required—training is available.  Volunteer to set-up from 8-9 am or clean up after the 9:02 service or clean up the area outside of Ward Hall any time after 10:30 am.  Volunteers usually serve once a month or as a substitute.


Church Hosts

Sunday Morning Host – Report to the church by 8 am to open the facilities and remain (or come back) after the 11:00 service to lock up and make rounds following a detailed check list.  Serves less than once a month or as a substitute.

Evening Host – Open the facilities at 6:20, lock them back up at 7:30 and make rounds following a detailed check list.  Serves once a month or as a substitute.


Pew Replenishment

Join the team that makes sure all the necessary materials are in the pew racks and the chair backs.


Apple Fest Volunteers

The annual apple fest sponsored by the St. John’s United Methodist Women is held the first Saturday in November (this year November 4).  This event encompasses a variety of things from bake shops, jewelry sales, fried apple pies, book sales, a Twice Loved Treasures area, etc. etc.  Volunteers are always welcome to help with this huge event.  The benefits from Apple Fest go to three area charities chosen each year by the UMW.
